Exploring the Grotesque Sublime in various forms of nature: water. Using water based mediums to create a life sized humanoid sculpture of a late 19th Century New England fisherman. I choose this period because this was a time where the seas were plagued with mythology and rituals; when the understanding of the ocean was more ambiguous and horrifying, ethereal stories controlled people’s perceptions of it. A meditating human with crystals growing out of its head to resemble a sailor that has reached enlightenment but also has been weathered and eroded by the ocean.
